Liberia’s GSM Company Lonestar Cell has donated over L$42,000 to an under privilege nursery school in New Klay Mah Town in the Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville.

The Kenday International School runs from nursery to 9th grade. It is the one and only Kindergarten school in the community. It has the population of little over 185 (one hundred eight-five) students. The Lonestar Cell family said the donation is their own way of encouraging quality education in the country.

The gift, according to the company is to also show that Lonestar Cell is not only in the country to provide modern and reliable communication through GSM, but they are also in the country to help build the capacity of people who will contribute towards the development of the Liberian society.

Presenting the donation on behalf of Lonestar Cell, the chief Communication Consultant of Lonestar Cell, former Information Minister Dr. Laurence Bropleh stressed the need for the improvement of education in Liberia.

He said Lonestar Cell will not only focus on assisting schools of higher learning, noting that the Liberian education system focuses on primary, secondary and tertiary systems.

Dr. Bropleh said Lonestar Cell has helped and will continue to help make Liberia’s education to be versatile, holistic, and truly comprehensive.

He noted that the Liberian education system must transcend to accentuate other areas. According to him, Lonestar Cell will be glad to see increased emphasis on the quality of pre-kindergarten education.

The Principal and Proprietor of the school, Madam Theresa Slawa receiving the donation thanked the Lonestar Cell family for their contribution to the school. She said the money will be used to construct additional classroom and to pay teachers.
