Sources both within the corridors of the ruling party and Grand Cape Mount County have hinted that Cllr. Sherman wants to seek the senatorial position to politically prepare for the 2017 presidential race.

However, Unity Party Deputy Secretary General for Press and Public Affairs Neto Leghi Zarzar said Cllr. Sherman’s weekend visit to Grand Cape Mount does not indicate he wants to contest in the mid-year senatorial election, adding this is a normal activity of the UP Chair.

Zarzar pointed out that it is very early for people to begin to speculate on who wants to contest in the senatorial election, which is two years ahead. Notwithstanding, highly placed sources in Grand Cape Mount County hinted this paper that Cllr. Sherman is gearing up to face incumbent Senator Abel Massaley.

Over the weekend, Cllr. Sherman along with some key officials of the governing Unity Party, including Senator Edward Dagoseh toured several towns and districts in the county.

During the tour, Cllr. Sherman donated about L$40,000 to the University Students Union of the Grand Cape Mount County.

Though he did not publicly declare his intention during the two- ay tour, but citizens of the county are very much aware of the real intent of the trip and they have begum mobilizing support for Sherman, one of their own.
