The Fulani Business Community in Grand Kru County has commended President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the rehabilitation of the Pleebo-Barclayville highway, which connects Grand Kru and Maryland counties in the southeast.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency, a spokesperson for the Fulani community in Grand Kru, Mr. Jalloh Mamadou Salieu said the reconstruction of the road has tremendously improved commercial activities in Barclayville.

Mr. Salieu said business people usually walk about three days from Pleebo to Barclayville to transact their businesses, but noted that it now takes two hours and thirty minutes in vehicles to travel between the two counties, following the rehabilitation of the highway.

The Fulani community, which controls trade and commerce in Grand Kru, is meanwhile appealing to the Government of Liberia through the President to consider the rehabilitation of the Barclayville-Kanweaken highway to enhance commerce and trade as well as accelerate development in the county.

Mr. Salieu, who arrived in the county in 2008 after residing in Pleebo, Maryland County for 22 years, has lauded the conducive business climate in Grand Kru and stressed the rehabilitation of the Pleebo-Barclayville, and the Kanweaken-Barclayville highway would help to bring rapid development in that part of the country.
