The Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) President Counselor Theophillus C. Gould has alarmed for government to institute appropriate legal measures against the indicted former Grand Gedeh County Superintendent Chris Bailey, and others for allegedly issuing threats against Liberia’s Solicitor General Michael Wilkins Wrights.

Prosecutors have been in hot pursuit of defendant Chris Bailey after a lower court in Grand Gedeh County issued a writ of arrest against him for alleged corruption during his tenure as superintendent.

Cllr. Gould told the NewDawn Liberia Tuesday at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia that defendant Chris Bailey and co-defendants (unidentified) are issuing threats against Solicitor General Wilkins Wrights for their indictment for corruption. Though Cllr. Gould did not state what threats were allegedly made against the Solicitor General by the defendants, he seems to be taking the matter very seriously.

Cllr. Gould told our reporter on Capitol Hill yesterday the Liberia National Bar Association is charged with the responsibility to protect its members, so the association will make sure those issuing threats against prosecutors face the law.

He had made similar call at the opening of the Civil Law Court on Capitol Hill Monday, June 18, 2012, requesting government to ensure that prosecutors are not just threatened by defendants for being indicted.
