Mental illness (anguish) is reported to be on the increase in the aftermath of the Liberia’s long years of conflict. An Assistant Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Torbor Nyansuah, diagnosed the problem affecting the society at the close of a 2-day seminar for health reporters in Liberia. He said there were many Liberians currently suffering from such disease (mental illness), emphasizing the need for a quick response.

“There are many Liberians who are suffering from mental illness (anguish) in our country as a result of the war. Therefore, there is need for government’s support to the ministry before things get out of hand,” Nyansuah warned.

The health minister’s call for remedy to mental disorderliness in the country could be considered belated, owing to the increased number of such people in the streets of Monrovia and communities without any for years now.

In the event, many Liberians, mostly males, continue to commit first, second and third degree murders against their female counterparts (lovers) on a large scale. Writes TKS.
