The 2013 National County Sports Meet continued Wednesday with Bong and Grand Kru counties becoming the first two counties to qualify for the quarter finals. The Kpatawee Boys outclassed their most feared neighbor Lofa County 4-2 in a traditional pairing at the Sanniquellie Sports pitch in Nimba County.
The National County Meet kicked off officially January 5, 2013 in Harper, Maryland County with the Host and River Gee County locking in a goalless draw. Maryland girls however over-powered their River-gee counterparts in kickball. The ceremony attracted thousands of sports enthusiasts and spectators in Maryland and other surrounding counties.
Liberia has announced a one year suspension of all sporting federations and associations from participating in all international competitions. The action does not include football, particularly the Lone Star and Amputee.
Confusion seems to be clouding the Liberia Volleyball Federation (LVF) once again. The Executive Committee, including ten (10) clubs may just not be satisfied with the leadership of the LVF. It is calling on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to stop all funding under the guise of conducting a National League to the leadership of Atty. Moifee Kanneh. According to the Committee, the Moifee Kanneh leadership is illegitimate.

Liberia’s former club Mighty Barrolle may encounter a tough and difficult task this weekend to face in Sanniquellie, Nimba County against Nimba United FC. Barrolle currently holds a point from two matches played so far in the ongoing national league. Barrolle drew with Watanga FC in their opening fixture and lost to Jubilee FC last Saturday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
Liberia’s Taekwondo giant Master Russian Junior Peewee has officially retired from international and local competitions. Master Russian, who pronounced his official resignation on Friday, has however pledged to develop more local martial arts talents to step into his position to uphold the image of Liberia in the sport.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced that the January 14th Inauguration championship tourney that was cancelled due to security reason is now rescheduled for this Saturday, January 21st at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
The national County Sports Meet qualification matches played at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium in Gbarnga, Bong County ended on Thursday, December 8, 2011 between Nimba and Lofa in both kickball and football with Nimba qualifying for the quarter final following a goalless draw.
All seems not to be well at the Liberia Wrestling Federation as its President, George Gould, continues to come under attack for alleged mismanaging of funds allotted to the federation.
