Sixty candidates are expected to complete a series of public exams under the auspices of the Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants or LICPA in Monrovia.
The Executive Director of LICPA, J. Dorbor Jallah disclosed to journalists that 42 candidates, on Tuesday began undergoing a combination of public examination with focus on Level 3 on financial reporting.
The four-day exercise ends today with concentration on financial management strategy. On Thursday, the candidates wrote cost and management accounting. Friday examination will also be restricted to public sector accounting to finally end the exercise.
“It is in fulfillment of the requirements needed for the professional examination,” said Executive Director Jallah, noting that the intent of the exam is to prove the professional qualifications of individuals graduating with degree(s) in the accounting profession as it is done in other disciplines like law, medicine, etc., etc.
Mr. Jallah described the test as significant because it is in added advantage in the fight against corruption, as well as supportive of the Public Financial Management Sector of Liberia.
He urged Liberians studying accounting and related disciplines to take advantage of the institute’s program to get professional qualification in public accounting.
