150 teachers report for vocational training

The Ministry of Youth and Sports begins a 10-day training here for teachers in the areas of technical and vocational education.The training brings together 150 teachers from all 15 counties of Liberia.

Speaking on a local radio station in Monrovia Tuesday, 9 January the Minister of Youth and Sports Saah N’Tow says the training is the first, and would lay the basis for the teachers to be trained in order to impact knowledge to young Liberians.

He notes that exercise is serving as a foundation for the training of teachers in technical and vocational fields, adding that the Ministry looks forward to developing a network to train more teachers.

“Not because you go through the training it means that you are qualified for the salary, you will have to go through a testing and those that will make it to certain level will be the ones that will receive any package that will come about”, says Minister N’Tow.

He continues that a core group of middle technicians will be developed and after the program, Liberians will expect a high level of qualified teachers, ready and qualified.

“We took them from all 15 counties, to make sure that each county has a representation of teachers who have records of dedicated teaching and understanding, in the process that they develop a skill of technical vocational teachers, to help to contribute to the human resource of this country.”
