2 Liberians leave for Seychelles

Two Liberian strikers, former LISCR FC’s Mohammed Varney and Soto Roberts of LPRC Oilers, have penned a loan deal with Lions FC of Seychelles.

Varney played for several local clubs in Liberia and the national team, the Lone Star in 2013 during a Friendly in Iraq. In that same year, he became the LFA Top Scorer of the Season. The 25 years old Liberian International left here about a week ago to start a new page in his soccer career after series of trials with teams in Israel and few Arab countries, which didn’t go well.  Speaking to this paper, Thursday, he expressed joy and was incredibly excited that his transfer to Lions has finally materialized.

According to him, Lions FC is a great club and its officials and players are very welcoming, adding this is an opportunity to explore his career internationally. Varney expressed gratitude to his ex-club LISCR FC for helping in getting him to where he is now, adding that he will to tell officials of Lions FC that LISCR made him who he is.

For his part, Soto Roberts, one-time high scorer of the Liberia Football Association National League, has also been picked up by Lions FC. Soto, who played for LPRC Oilers here in the local league and the Lone Star, is reportedly proving his worth in training sessions with Lions FC.  He has blessed God for providing him the opportunity to leave the country to play international soccer, promising to do his best to keep Liberia high. The Lions FC is based in Cascade, Seychelles, currently playing in the national league. In 2014, they came eighth in the Seychelles League.
