President George Manneh Weah says under his administration, the Legislature has enacted almost two hundred Acts and passed fifty-six bills.
Delivering his sixth State of the Nation Address Monday, 30 January 2023, President Weah boasted that it was the first in the history of Liberia for an administration to pass such a huge number of legislation.
“Under my administration, the 54th Legislature has enacted almost two hundred acts covering all aspects of our national endeavor. The Land Rights Acts, Local Government Acts, and many others are key instruments that were enacted by my administration,” he said.
In 2022, the passage of fifty-six bills marked the highest number of bills passed in a single Legislative session under his administration.
He described the Land Rights Acts as an instrument that protects customary land as well as women’s rights to land.
Also, President Weah said the Local Government Act has established a system of governance consistent with local appointed and elected officials and grants them authority and resources to enable them to cater directly to the care and needs of the citizens in their respective areas.
Further, President Weah said the Legislature also passed the Revenue Sharing Law in 2022 to enable revenue sharing between central and local governments in the country.

He thanked the Legislature for passing the Power Theft Law, the Domestic Violence Act, and the Kamara A. Kamara Press Freedom Act, saying it was highly commendable.
In the area of health and education, he said no more people come to Monrovia to get better services. He said most of the things done in Monrovia can now be done in the other counties.
