22 Named For Sunday’s Match

The Technical Committee of the Liberia FA has released the names of 22 players for the U-23 Olympic qualifying match against Sierra Leone on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the SKD Sports Stadium in Paynesville. Among them are three professional players, including midfielder Patrick Doeplah of club Hapoel Kfar Saba FC, who has already arrived here.

Midfielder Theo Weeks of Ankaragucu is expected in the country today, while striker Sekou Jabateh of CSK Moscow is expected on Friday. Other local players making up the 22-man squad are Goalkeepers Gallay James, Nathanial Sherman and Samuel Cooper, as well as defenders Bill Paytoe of LPRC Oilers, BYC captain Alpha James and Michael Jaesu of LISCR FC.

Other stoppers are LPRS Oilers’ Teah Dennis, Sam Peter of Mighty Barolle, Navo Johnson and Namie Yancy. The Midfield will be protected by Marcus Macaulay, Joshua Morris, Patrick Jackson, Andrew Swaray and Emmeth Wleh. Theo Weeks will buttress their efforts in midfield. At the front line are Sam Johnson of Nimba FC, Patrick Wleh and Dweh Allison. Sekou Jabateh of Russian side CKSA Moscow will also join the frontliners.

Abel Burmah, Alexander Dargbe and Zayzay Kollie are also training with the team.  Sunday’s match is the second leg of the London 2012 Olympic Games Qualifying rounds. The Liberians forced their Sierra Leonean counterparts to 1-1draw in Freetown in early October 2010.

Meanwhile, the Sierra Leonean 25man delegation is expected in the country tomorrow, Thursday by road. The match commissioner from the Gambia is expected in the country on Thursday, while the referees from Ghana, will arrive on Friday.
