3 charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault

Three defendants identified as William Dixon Joe, Matthew Jackson and Alfred Tony have been charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault following a bloody fight against victim Patrick Karbo last month.Following their charges, the defendants were jailed at the Monrovia Central Prison compound (MCP) over the weekend on the order of the Bushrod Island Magisterial Court due to their failure to secure a valid criminal appearance bond.

Court record indicates that on 29 September, the defendants ganged up against complainant Patrick Karbo during a fight in Sayon Town on Bushrod Island and inflicted bodily injuries on the victim.During the incident, the record says the three defendants, armed with silent weapon (knives) allegedly stabbed victim Patrick on his upper chest, neck and face.

They allegedly caused Patrick to bleed profusely and rushed at the the Mawa Clinic in Vai Town on Bushrod Island.According to the court document, defendants Joe, Jackson, and Tony allegedly admitted to the charges brought against them during police preliminary investigation.

The record notes that due to the wounds that Patrick sustained at the hands of the three defendants, he received 34 stitches to stabilize his health condition.The defendants are to remain detained at the MCP pending the filling in for a valid criminal appearance bond from a recognized license insurance company as security for their reappearance in court whenever they are needed upon the assignment of the case.

Meanwhile, the case is pending before Stipendiary Magistrate Winston Gee, and it is expected to commence when the victim recuperates.
