3 died in tragic accident

Three people have reportedly died and several others wounded in a tragic motor accident in Worla, Bong County. A Mack Truck, marked TP 005, was en route from Kpatuo Nimba County to Monrovia when one of the tires was disabled, summersaulting several times on Sunday night at about 11:35.

The truck, which was carrying over 30 people- mostly women and children, landed off the road, leaving many of its occupants injured and three dead – all males. Injured passengers filled the corridors of the Phebe Hospital in Suakoko, Bong County in pain and agony, as children as young as six months were being separated from their injured parents, while under medical attention.

Meanwhile, an unknown body has been found lying in the middle of the road along the Gbarnga-Phebe highway around former President Charles Taylor’s farm in Melekie.

The body with head smashed beyond recognition, was discovered Wednesday morning after several cars also drove over it. The death of the man is attributed to his fall from a truck he might have been sleeping on while traveling, even though officers of the Liberia National Police in Bong County are yet to establish the cause of his death.

Some citizens said on Monday night, many trucks from across the borders with Guinea or Ivory Coast were seen passing through the city of Gbarnga on with huge goods and passengers. They said the unknown man may have been on one of the trucks, recalling similar incidents that took place before. The body is yet to be buried as police continue to find its identity.
