32-yr-Oldman Dies at Steel Mill in Bong

Police in Bong County have arrested five persons in connection with the death of a 32-year-old man Sumo Togbah, a.k.a Sumoward.  The victim reportedly died while operating a steel mill in Wongbay, Jorquelleh District. The mechanical steel mill belt is said to have cut and hit the victim, leaving him dead.

The mill is owned by a man identified as Hilary Vah in Wongbay. Mr. Vah confirmed the steel mill belt cut and hit the deceased, breaking his arm. According to him, following the incident, he was afraid to tell residents of the town, but secretly told the deceased’s family to have a home settlement.

Vah confirmed that Togbah was within his employ when the incident transpired; clarifying that he had no quarrel with the victim prior to his death. Residents of the town are calling for full investigation into circumstances that led to the Togba’s death at the steel mill.

Some argued that Vah’s failure to inform the entire town about the incident has raised suspicion, saying “We all live in this town, why would he not inform authorities of the town and decided to keep quiet, waiting for family members.”

Police investigators however raised suspicion that the victim might have been pushed on the mechanical steel mill belt, which caused his death. Photos of the victim show that hot water may have wasted on him. The Bong County Police detachment has arrested five persons, including the mill proprietor Hilary Vah in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Jorquelleh District, Edward Yarkpawolo, said he has no knowledge of the incident. Commissioner Yarkpawolo said despite residing not too far from the town where the incident took place, he was not informed.

He however said, if the police established that the death of Togba was as the result of an accident, the matter should be settled with his family.  Police have already ordered the burial of the deceased, while investigation continues.
