4 indicted in SRC burglary

Four guards of the Salala Rubber Corporation or SRC in Weala, Bong County have been indicted in connection with an alleged burglary at the corporation.

Speaking to this paper on Monday, 29 August an official of the company narrated that over the weekend, unknown men broke into the safe of the company’s canteen and stole over a thousand United States dollars.

Mr. Solomon Pennoh, who is also President of the Salala Rubber Corporation Staff Association or SACORSA said, the alleged burglars stole about 43,000 Liberian Dollars along with US$780 dollars. The total amount of money stolen is about US$1,240.00.

He disclosed that about four of the company security personnel are being held liable for the suspected burglary following police preliminary investigation. The four suspects are yet to be identified, but Mr. Pennoh noted that the criminals did not take any other thing besides the money in question.

He expressed disappointment about the theft and noted this was not the first burglary incident at the corporation, recalling that in 2014, burglars also spirited an air conditioner valued about US$10,000 from the company.
