5 Persons Near Death

Five persons are reported to be near death as a result of a nasty motorcar accident which occurred Tuesday, 8 February on the Tappita-Toe Town highway in Grand Gedeh County.

Doctors and nurses at the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital in Zwedru are reportedly struggling with the victims whose identities are not yet known.

Our Grand Gedeh correspondent says due to the critical injuries sustained as a result of the accident, chances for the victims appear to be very slim. Though the cause of the accident is yet to be established, police are carrying on investigation.

However, eyewitnesses told Correspondent Johnson Sharty that the accident occurred when one of the front tires of an NGO pick-up with plate number 974 ‘fired’ while in route from Toe Town to Tappita at an uncontrollable and excessive speed.

“The car somersaulted twice immediately before our eyes after taken off from Toe Town’s checkpoint en-route to Tappita. This is my first time for me to see an accident clear like this,” one witness said.

“If there is any survivor from such a nasty accident, then so be it by the Grace of Our Maker (God). Most of the NGO drivers are in the constant habit of running at a very high speed on this road which they can’t control,” another eye witness told our correspondent.

Follow-up to the conditions of the victims and police investigation will continue.
