5 Rape Women

The Liberia National Police or LNP has dragged 3 of five armed robbers and rape suspects to the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia over recent complaint of rapping a lady after taking away several valuables of hers in Logan Town, on Bushrod Island early this month.

According to police charge sheet in possession of this paper, suspects Phillip Anderson, 21, Edward T. Sesay, 28, Aloysius T. Wanasue, 23, and two of their accomplices yet to be identified (at –large) forcibly broke into the victim’s room on August 1, 2011 at about 2:00 am, while she was asleep to execute their alleged armed robbery and rape.

Police investigators gathered that the victim was terrorized with a cutlass, while search for her valuables was conducted by the men. Items allegedly taken away included a guarantee chain valued at US$50.00, an amount of $10,000.00LD and a Nokia Cell phone.

The victim further narrated during police probe that after collecting the items, the suspects forcibly had sex with her one after the order. Police investigation quoted four of the suspects as allegedly admitting to the commission of the crime. It was also established that one of the suspects, Anthony Dorbor could not be linked to the crime despite being mentioned by others.

Anthony is said to have narrated that unknown men ordered him out of his house to accompany them on August 1, 2011, at 3:00 am, and that while in an argument an ERU officer who is said to be a resident of the community arrived on the scene and intervene. He was quoted as being escorted by the ERU officer to the Zone 1 Depot 3 police station for detention.

However, suspect Yalugba is reported to have fired at the police who had gone to arrest the situation at the St. Edward Catholic School. There was no report of injuries as a result of the shooting.

Yalugba’s accomplices allegedly confessed to police that he had a single barrel gun in his possession while on their criminal mission that night. They are further quoted as saying that Yalugba (at-large) was the key suspect who had the victim at ‘gun-point’ to forcibly undress her.

Meanwhile, 3 of the suspects -Phillip Anderson, Edward T. Sesay and Aloysius Wanasue were taken to the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia on Thursday, under police charges of Armed Robbery and Rape.

The crimes are in violation of Chapter 15, Section 15.32, and Chapter 14 Section 14.70 of the Liberian Constitution, while suspect Yalugba was charged with the same crimes in absentia.
