51 inmates receive baptism in Gbarnga

The Daughters of Faith Ministries, in collaboration with the Ambassadors for Christ Evangelistic Ministries, has baptized 51 prisoners at the Gbarnga Central Prison in Bong County. The initiative, according to the Founder and Executive Director of the Daughters of Faith Christian Ministries, Justina Tubman, aims at spreading the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ to prisoners across the Country.

Madam Tubman, speaking earlier in an interview with The NewDawn Saturday, July 16, 2016, noted that prisoners across the Country must be treated with care and respect, indicating that as such, her institution was formed in December 2015 through God’s anointment to perform holy water baptism for prisoners at Liberian prison centers despite of their crimes allegedly committed in society.

She named Grand Gedeh, Margibi and Grand Bassa as Counties she has performed baptism ceremonies, with Bong County being the latest. The Chief Executive Officer of the Daughters of Faith Ministries is, meanwhile, calling on the Liberian government and goodwill individuals to support her initiative as a way of improving the livelihoods of prisoners at various holding cells.

She commended authorities at the Gbarnga Central Prison for accepting her vision to baptize prisoners at the center, describing such as welcoming. Madam Tubman named logistics, finance and Bible novels as major constraints facing her operations across the Country.

Also speaking, the Head of the Ambassadors for Christ Evangelistic Ministries- Gbarnga, Pastor Moses Makpann thanked mother Tubman for partnering with his ministries in making sure that the Gospel of the Lord is reached to the prisoners.

Pastor Makpann said the process was commendable as it would help restore the lives of the prisoners, expressing the need to seriously support the initiative through finance, materials and logistics. He promised to work in the interest of prisoners who feel their lives were being thrown on the wayside, with a call to them to remain prayerful while serving their terms in imprison.

Meanwhile, the Chief Superintendent of the Gbarnga Central Prison Feshell Dean and the inmates, have lauded Madam Justina Tubman and Pastor Moses Makpann for baptizing the prisoners. They said the venture by the Christian Ministries was indicative of the fact that they were still important to the Liberian society, irrespective of their imprisonment.

Pointing at key issues, the prisoners appealed to the Ministry of Justice to help speed up their cases, noting that for too long they continue to remain behind bars without hearings in their cases. They called on the government to prioritize vocational training at various prison centers in the Country as a way of bettering their lives after their jail sentences.
