7-year-old boy drowns

A seven years old lad has drowned in the Borlor River in Felelah, Bong County. According to reports, the late Dada Sackie met his unfortunate death on September 20, 2014 while he and his family were en-route to the farm.

The victim’s father, Lawrence Sackie, who was taking him along to the farm, said his son slipped from the bridge, leaving his (Lawrence Sackie’s) grip and fell into the river. Sackie narrated that he and the late Dada had always crossed the bridge to go to the farm, but September 20th was an unfortunate day.

According to Sackie, when his son fell into the river, he immediately put away his cutlass and jumped into the water to rescue him but to no avail. The boy’s father continued that while in the river, he only saw his son once, but his (Sackie’s) T-shirt covered his face, making it difficult to rescue him until he eventually drowned.
