Abandoned Baby Found Alive in Ganta

A report from Ganta, Nimba County says a two-month-old baby has been found alive in the Deakemein community. An elderly woman, who discovered the infant in her yard, told the NewDawn Nimba Correspondent that at about 8 pm on Monday, while walking she came across a young baby lying near her house.

According to Ma Zoe Kolor, while parking her personal effects to go to bed, she noticed a living creature wrapped in a cloth lying inside an old kitchen near her house in Deakehmein community.

“At first, when I saw the thing lying in the kitchen I was so afraid, then I call my son; when he came, he took a stick while I also took an old rubber cup to hit the thing, but immediately, the baby came out. This was when I realized that it was a child so I decided to call people to come and see the child”, she narrated.

The NewDawn Correspondent in the county said the baby was reported to the police, and subsequently transferred to the Ganta United Methodist Hospital along with Ma Zoe Kolor.

The incident has reportedly created panic among Ganta residents and in the surrounding areas, especially when now seems to be coming forth to claim the child. This paper has gathered that the baby is being named ‘Blessing’ because it is only by God’s divine grace he was found alive.

“If he was not a blessed child, he could have been left in an isolated area to die. Many people shouted as they saw the child”, Madam Kolor added.

Meanwhile, police in Ganta has launched an investigation to establish how the baby came to be found in the Deakehmein community, and who may have taken there or are the biological parents.
