Chairman emeritus of the former ruling National Patriotic Party Chief Cyril Allen descends on opposition political leaders of the All Liberian Party Benoni Urey and the Alternative National Congress, Mr. Alexander Cummings for their lack of sincerity, ahead of the 2023 elections.

Speaking to the NewDawn via mobile phone Sunday, July 21, Chief Allen notes that the current collaboration of opposition political parties is not based on sincerity, as leaders are totally against one another. He says opposition leaders claim the country is tough and the governing Coalition for Democratic Change is involved in bad governance.

But Chief Allen argues that opposition leaders have the liberty to lobby for investments and the government will appreciate them, as it will also create job opportunities for their partisans, but they renege on such opportunity.

He claims that when former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf denied them (NPP partisans) the opportunity to serve in her administration, they (NPP stalwarts) reverted to farming and investments, but the current opposition leaders are crying because they want jobs, attention or want to be rewarded for being politicians by the Weah’s administration, which is not working for their interest.

The opposition collaborating political parties are; the former ruling Unity Party of Ambassador Joseph Boakai, Liberty Party of Cllr, Charles Walker Brumskine, Alternative National Congress of Alexander Cummings and All Liberian Party of businessman Benoni Urey.

“My man Urey, Cummings and even Henry Costa all lost their elections in the 2017 Presidential and Legislative elections, so defeat is the only common thing holding them together. How can a political party contest in general elections and failed to win a single legislative seat, that’s troubling and worrisome for them,” he adds.

Chief Allen predicts that the collaboration will fall part before the 2023 presidential election on grounds that every leader of the group has presidential ambition and is not willing to give in to other.

“Mark my words, that collaboration will produce three presidential candidates for the 2023 elections, Alex (Alexander Cummings) will never give in to Ben (Benoni Urey), these are the facts. In fact, we saw division on the day of the June 07 protest when every leader had his agenda apart the Council of Patriots agenda.”

Allen, who chairs the board of the National Social Security Corporation (NASSCORP), in the Weah’s government points out that the current opposition community is not building forces to take on the ruling establishment instead; their arguments are petty and based on bitterness.By E.
