ALP clarifies Urey’s statement

The All Liberia Party of businessman Benoni Urey has categorically clarified statement attributed to Mr. Urey in this paper on Monday, 9 January saying that what the ALP leader said was that for too long politicians have taken Liberians for granted, but this coming elections will be different.

Making the clarification Monday when he walked into the offices of the NewDawn in Monrovia, an official of ALP Nat TS Johnson quoted Mr. Urey as saying “Liberians are not fools” and if they had been taken for granted, this time around, it will not be business as usual.

According to him, the ALP leader has called on Liberians to go out to register come February in order to vote in the October elections and make the change they are yearning for, stressing that their individual vote matters in bringing about change. “We must change Liberia now”, Johnson added.

He said Mr. Urey also told Liberians that if politicians came from abroad with promises that they would do this or that, they should be able to show contributions made in the past.

The ALP leader spoke while being gowned in Brewerville, Montserrado County over the weekend where he also noted that Liberia has gone so bad that people stay away for so long only to return and declare they want to become president.
