Amadaiya Rescues GAIS FC

Amadaiya Rennie was at the rescue of Göteborgs Atlet and Idrottssälskap FC during their game last Sunday when he scored a lone goal very vital to a draw.

The Liberian’s 58th minute strike was enough for GAIS FC, as they were thrilling at home 0-1 to the visitors, Mjallby FC in their 5th league match.

The Swedish Allsvenskan league is just  about five weeks old since kickoff late last month (March). Rennie’s Club is 4th on the table in the Swedish Allsvenskan league with 10 points just from 5 matches. Six Liberians are expected to feature in the league this season- 4 in Division Two and 2 expected to play Division Two.

Another Liberian, Dioh Williams’ employer, BK Häcken FC, settled to a scoreless draw at home on Sunday against Gefle FC. It was Williams fifth league game without a goal. BK Häcken FC has 7 points from five matches on the table.

Other Liberians in the league are, Taurus Manneh of Carlstad United, who  played his first league match last on Saturday, Victor Carr of  Hanosand FC, Aaron Kennedy and Anthony Allison, both of  IFK Sundsvall FC.

United Challenged

Liberia’s Anthony Laffor of SuperSport United FC in South Africa is expected to meet a huge challenge during next season. United is the holders (Champion) of the Absa premiership, but they are out of the competitions’ race this summer. The club has 31 points from 27 games, with Laffor scoring a few goals.

The team has started an improvement campaign for next season, with the pre- signing of the National First Division top scorer, Atusaye Nyondo. Malawian international Nyondo, has so far scored 13 goals in the league. He came from Carara Kicks, who took him to South Africa from Silver Strikers of Lilongwe.

The triple champions have already signed-up, Sibusiso Zuma and the Senegalese striker and Mame Niang, who was top-scorer of the Premier Soccer League in South Africa. Niang and Bafana Bafana former captain, Sibusiso Zuma have both signed pre-contracts with United.

Niang joins SuperSport after Kaizer Chiefs had him on trial but decided to have a change of mind. He was the top scorer in the Premier Soccer League with Moroka Swallows at the end of the 2005/06 season before being sold to VfL Wolfsburg of Germany.
