ANC endorses Tokpa

Opposition Alternative National Congress has endorsed the Senatorial bid of former Internal Affairs Minister Dr. Henrique Flomo Tokpa ahead of the by-elections in Bong and Montserrado Counties.


The endorsement came following the withdrawal of Liberia former Ambassador Jeremiah Sulunteh who also served as ANC’s vice Standard Bearer during the October 10th 2017 elections.

Reading the endorsement statement at a well-attended Press Conference in Gbarnga, ANC political Leader Mr. Alexander B. Cummings said after series of consultation with their partisans in the county that thoroughly reviewed the records of achievement and capability of all the names sourcing in the pending by-election to deliver the prosperity of the County, they have categorically decided to support the ticket of Dr. Tokpa.

The ANC boss said his party sees it very prudent to support the candidacy of Dr. Tokpa in the Bong County by -election. He at the same time said there is no candidate in the Bong County by- election that is competent as compare to Dr. Henrique Tokpa and as such, the party must support such an upstanding Educator in the county.

He pledges the party’s commitment to vigorously campaigning for Dr. Tokpa in ensuring his victory in the pending senatorial by-election in the County. For his part, Dr. Tokpah said the declaration made by the ANC political Leader is a total surprise to him as an independent candidate in the county.

Dr. Tokpah, with excitement told the ANC team that he will work with the party family in making sure he wins the vacant seat in Bong County.Dr. Tokpa, whom many see as the front runner for the 2018 by-senatorial race in the county, has a difficult task ahead of him. It will not be easy to defeat the CDC candidate and Representative J. Marvin Cole who is equally preparing to put up a tough fight in the pending election.

The former Internal Affairs minister said his honest intention if elected at the pending by-election will be to make a strong case at the Liberian Senate to ensure that Bong County gets her fair shall of funding to support education. Tokpa admonished his supporters to keep reaching out to get more people on board, noting that his vision is to positively transform Bong County through development at the Liberian Senate.
