Joint Security officers at the Ganta border in Nimba County have arrested yet another huge cache of ammunition from a 48year old man. The man, Dukuly Karfalay was arrested with two hundred rounds of short gun shots, while on his way from Guinea on board a Guinean vehicle with registration number RC 590-Z 2.
According to our Nimba Correspondent, the suspect has failed to inform security officers about the destination of the ammunition. He was subsequently charged and placed in detention awaiting court trial.
Recently, DEA officers in the county, while searching for narcotics arrested another man with eight hundred rounds of ammunition along with a pistol in the city of Ganta, again that suspect also enter the country from the Guinea.
Proliferation of small arms and ammunition has been of major concern within the sub-region, with the number of illegal traffickers increasing by the day.-Edited Othello B. Garblah
