Armed Robber Arrested

Barely one week following the launch of “Operation Safe Haven”, the Liberia National Police has arrested and detained a notorious armed robbery suspect identified as Junior Jerry, alias “School Face.”

A police press statement issued in Monrovia said suspect School Face was arrested late Thursday night on Old Road with a single barrel shot gun and three live bullets. The police statement disclosed that the latest arrest of the armed robbery suspect is the first since “Operation Safe Haven” was launched.

During the armed robbery attacked on a business center on the Old Road in Sinkor, two Lebanese merchants were victimized.  Mohammed Kphaul sustained bullet wounds in his left arm, while Alie Faksouk injured after he was reportedly hit with an iron rod.

Police Spokesman George Bardue said in the statement that another suspect is currently being treated at a local hospital following a mob action by residents of Old Road. He was later rescued by the Police.

“Operation Safe Haven” is intended to build confidence and restore hope in the people as the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations approach.
