The President of the Margibi County Entertainers Association, Miss Davidetta Kerkula, has stressed that if the county should get to top of the music industry here, artists must work with unity and put aside all differences.
Speaking to this paper in Kakata, Margibi County recently, she said disunity is the key factor hindering the growth musicians in Margibi, noting that some musicians have personal problems with one another so they cannot cooperate.
Miss Kerkula said under her administration several interventions have been made to address some of the problems, but to no avail as they keep emerging among the local entertainers primarily based on jealousy and self-interests.
According to her, whenever there is a called meeting, many of the artists don’t attend despite public service announcement on community radio stations and personal contacts via mobile phones prior to meeting time.
However, the Margibi Entertainers Association President vowed to keep trying her possible best to unite musicians in the country.
Meanwhile, Miss Kerkula has disclosed that the copy of music from one computer or memory card to another by street hawkers is robbing local artists of the benefits of their songs, stressing that this is one of the crucial challenges artists in the county need to come together and tackle.
She said her office has already spoken with the head of the copy right boss in Monrovia, who has shut down some distributors and is expected to visit the county.
“We need everyone to come on board so that we can see how best we can push the association forward and get the support of the caucus. It is not about me; it is about our talents we are about to show case”, Miss Kerkula added.
She appealed to marketers, motorcyclists, forex exchangers and the Margibi County Legislature Caucus to support the works of artists in the county.
