Auditor General reacts to critics

GAC BossLiberia’s General Auditing Commission (GAC) says it has observed that some individuals named in its Audit report on the National Ebola Trust Fund have made statements intended to undermine the credibility of the Auditor General, Yusador S. Gaye, CPA, CGMA and the GAC.

In a press release distributed among media houses here on Wednesday, Auditor General Gaye categorically maintains that she stands by the Audit Report on the National Ebola Trust Fund.

The press release comes amidst news report Tuesday, quoting Deputy Health and Social Welfare Minister and head of the government’s Incident Management System, Tolbert Nyenswah, as describing the Audit Report from the General Auditing Commission as lacking professional standards.

“The Auditor General also wants to emphasize that no amount of intimidation, blackmail and/or threat will deter the GAC from professionally performing its Constitutional and Statutory Mandate”, the release read.

It says Auditor General Yusador S. Gaye, CPA, CGMA, in the midst of these attacks and insinuations remains committed to promoting accountability and transparency in the use of public resources. Edited by Jonathan Browne
