Bassa to host 2015 County Meet finals

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has scheduled the annual National County Sports Meet this year for March with Grand Bassa County picked to host the final matches.

The ministry disclosed this last week at the daily press briefing of the Ministry of Information on Capitol Hill when it also released fixture for the annual tournament but without definite dates for the games.

It said from the quarter and grand final matches which will only include football and kickball will be played at the Doris William Stadium in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County due to ongoing renovation works at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Stadium in Paynesville and the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia respectively.

According to the fixture, all participating 15 counties of Liberia have been grouped in four zones with different venues for the games.

Group One includes defending soccer champs Grand Bassa, Grand Cape Mount, Maryland, and Nimba with the games to be played in Sanniquellie, Nimba County.

Group Two brings together Bong as host, River Gee, Bomi, and Sinoe, While Grand Gedeh will play host to Group Three that involves Lofa, Rivercess and Grand Kru counties.

Group Four is featuring Margibi, Montserrado, and Gbarpolu with Kakata, Margibi County as host.

The 2015 National County Meet is being planned for three weeks, according to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Funds for the games will come through various sponsorship deals. The actual budget was not disclosed but in recent times past, the government had mobilized at least U$350,000 for the annual competition meant to spot young talents across the country.
