Belguim-Lusembourg trade group visit Liberia, S/Leone

A joint Belgium-Luxembourg Preparatory Trade and Investment Mission to Liberia and Sierra Leone arrive is expected here on Tuesday January 19, after landing in Freetown Sunday January 17. The Trade and Investment Mission which is exploring possibilities for doing business through partnerships with other local and state institutions is headed by Belgium Minister of Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem.

The delegation will hold discussions with Sierra Leonean authorities and business executives as well as President Ernest Bai Koroma before departing for Monrovia on Tuesday evening.

The Belgium-Luxembourg Trade and Investment delegation will hold discussions in Monrovia from Wednesday, January 20 to Friday January 22, 2016 with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Vice President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

The delegation will also meet heads of the National Investment Commission, the Ministries of Finance and Development Planning, Commerce, Transport, Lands, Mines and Energy, Agriculture among others.

Heads of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), National Port Authority (NPA), Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC) and the Liberia Chamber of Commerce and others will also participate in the deliberations.

The Joint Belgium-Luxembourg Trade and Investment delegation has companies interested in the transport, dredging and ports operations, civil engineering, diamond trade, energy, agro-industry, the environment, machines and other economic relations activities.

In July 2015, a 30-Member Dutch Trade and Investment delegation visited Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea and held talks with authorities and companies in the three most affected Ebola Countries.
The visitation by the Dutch Trade Mission led to the holding of the ‘Back To Growth’ conference in the Netherlands on November 30, 2015 by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Trade for Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone and brought together Liberian, Sierra Leonean and Guinean business people and investors.

The Belgium-Luxembourg Trade and Investment Conference is tentatively planned for July 2016.
