Bicskei Recalls 15 “Foreign Based” For Mali?

The head coach of the senior national soccer team of Liberia, Bertalan Bicskei, has forwarded the names of fifteen Liberian foreign based players for the country’s second game in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier that will oppose the Lone star to Mali.

Bicskei has since Monday of this week, commenced vigorous training with a number of home based players ahead of the arrival of players to be invited. Although the list of names of players has not been formally released by the Liberia Football Association (LFA), a credible source at the local football house confided in the New Dawn Sports that Isaac Popoe and Amadiya Rennie are not included among the Hungarian invitees.

Our source also said, the name of Francis Grand-Pa Doe is among the Lone Star to shine in Bamako, Mali. Dulee Johnson, Dio Williams and Francis Grand-Pa Doe were expelled from the senior national team of Liberia for indiscipline. However, Isaac Popoe was not selected because of his poor performance against Zimbabwe on September 5.

This paper has further gathered, Captain Anthony Laffor, goal scorer Sekou Jabateh-Oliseh, Theo Weeks and Ben Tecklo are on the list of the selected ones. Others are Varney Boakai, Alex Karmo, Jimmy Dixon and Solomon Grimes.

Liberia is expected to travel to Bamako, Mali to battle that West African nation for a ticket to Equatorial Guinea/Gabon 2012 nation’s cup. The match will be Liberia’s second match in the qualifier.

On September 5, 2010 Lone Star played Zimbabwe to a one all draw on her home soil. A win in Mali could put Liberia either at the top of her zone or second place to Cape Verde who currently lead the group. Liberia is in group A with Cape Verde, Mali and Zimbabwe.
