Bishop Benda earns second PhD

The Bishop of the United Pentecostal Church of Liberia, Dr. Stephen T.Y. Benda, has earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Religious Study (PhD) from the Cypress Bible College in the United States of America. The degree was conferred on him Saturday, May 10, 2014 via the Jerusalem Christian Bible College in Lilongwe, Malawi.

According to a release, presenting the degree to Bishop Benda amidst hundreds of foreign students, the Vice Chancellor of the Cypress Bible College and founder of the Jerusalem Christian Bible College in Lilongwe, Malawi, Professor Dr. Prince G. Gadama, praised Bishop Benda for being focused and studious.

Professor Gadama said he was proud of Bishop Benda’s performance for his studies and scoring high marks in his class. He said the saints and members of the United Pentecostal Church and people of Liberia should be proud of Bishop Benda’s performance and lauded all UPC Churches in Liberia for the level of support.

The Malawian Bishop urged UPC members to remain supportive of Dr. Benda’s ministry of teaching, preaching and spreading the gospel in Liberia and the world over.

Meanwhile, Bishop Benda has also received an honorary doctorate degree from the Jerusalem Christian Bible College in Lilongwe, Malawi for his ministry in Liberia and the world at large in more than 30 years.

Dr. Benda earned his first doctorate degree in theology from the Cypress Bible College in 2005. The program brought together dignitaries from the Cypress Bible College in the United States of America, Liberia, Malawi and other parts of the world.
