Bong citizens eye Gbarnga Mayor’s Office

Serious tension is brewing in Gbarnga over who becomes the next Mayor of the city. Current City Mayor Esther Kulah Warbey is currently in India undergoing serious medical treatment.

Madam Warbey got seriously injured in a tragic motor accident about three years ago while on her way to an official county duty, along with Bong County Superintendent Selena Polson Mappy.

The car crash left one of her legs seriously injured, compelling her to leave the country to seek further treatment after it was noticed at the John F. Kennedy Hospital that her leg was decaying.

Since her return from India about two years ago, her condition continued to worsen, compelling her again to leave the country four months ago.

But her current medical trip has left some citizens asking for her replacement on grounds that her condition cannot allow her to perform any longer, while others continue to argue that she should not be replaced on grounds that she was on an official county duty.

Already, speculations are that names have been submitted to the President for the appointment of a new City Mayor. As some continue to argue about whether the current city Mayor should be replaced or not, it is widely viewed that her replacement will be inappropriate because she is yet to return to see the level of progress in her health.

The President of the Bong Motor Transport Union Samuel Elliott, as well as the Bong Chairman of the Liberia Marketing Association Viola Cooper, among others, are names speculated to be hunting for the job of Gbarnga Mayor, currently occupied by Esther Kulah Warbey, who was critically injured in a tragic motor accident while on official duty.
