Bong County LMA, Baila residents resolve dispute

The long standing land dispute between the Liberia Marketing Association Bong County chapter and the people of Baila over the Baila Market has been finally resolved.

Speaking to The NewDawn recently upon her return from Baila, Bong County, the Superintendent of the Marketing Association in the county, Madam Viola Cooper, said an agreement has been reached between the people of the town and the LMA for the land to be managed by the association.

Madam Cooper said the association has also agreed to give the people a percentage of income that would be generated for the usage of the land. The Bong LMA boss said it is unproductive to be in dispute over a piece of land that should be developed for the benefit of the county so she was very grateful that the dispute has finally been settled.

Among other things, residents of the Baila Community had demanded compensation from the Liberia Marketing Association for the piece of land being used to carry out its activities. Baila is the last town in Bong County that borders Nimba County.
