Bong District#4 citizens to boycott by-election

A group of citizens in Electoral District Four, Bong County threatens to boycott any by-election in the county due to delay by the National Elections Commission to rule in the Robert Womgba Vs. Susannah Mator alleged electoral irregularities case.

Since the October 10, 2017 elections, the case, filed by third place candidate Susannah Mator has been from the NEC to the Supreme Court and back to the NEC for final decision. But the commission has not made any decision into the case since it was asked to take a resolution into the matter.

The Bong County District Four citizens say they are tired with continuous delay in handing down ruling in the case, and are threatening peacefully protest to ensure that Mr. Robert Womgba , whom they elected, takes his seat.

According to them, alleged delay by the NEC is causing serious problems for them as they have no representation at the legislature to argue their case for development. The citizens believe Mr. Robert Womgba is the best person to represent them at the 54th Legislature.

They told this paper that they will not participate in the impending Senatorial by-election to take place in the county shortly. “We will not participate in the pending election, and we will not allow any NEC car to enter the district, if they cannot see reasons to certificate our Representative Phillip Warmah, the District Youth President told this paper.

Mr. Warmah says delay in certificating their lawmaker is equated to holding the district hostage, adding that if the NEC didn’t see reason to certificate Womgba, they will protest very soon.

“We need our Representative to be certificated or else, no NEC car will come in our district for any electoral activity in the upcoming elections”, says Moses Darker, head of commercial motorcyclists told our Bong County correspondent in the district.

Mr. Robert Flomo Womgba made lots of promises during the campaign, including construction of bridges, farm to market roads and provision of safe-drinking water, among others.
