Brazilian To Take Over Lone Star

Luciano Reis, a Brazilian, may take over as head coach of the Liberian soccer team, the Lone Star following the Liberia Football Association elections.

Several individuals, including Musa Bility President of the Watanga FC- a Premier team in the LFA League, incumbent LFA President Izetta Wesley and George Williams of Vantaa Sport-a local sports marketing corporation are contesting the FA presidency.

The much publicized LFA Elections are slated for March 20, 2010.  Reis, has just ended an assessment visit to Liberia.

According to report gathered by the New Dawn Sports over the weekend, Reis, who has spent 18 years of his life coaching various clubs in Brazil and other parts of the world, is poised to take over as senior coach of the Lone Star having got the blessing of the Ministry of Youth and Sports or MYS and other key football stakeholders.

This latest report came in the wake of the recent   visit of the Brazilian in the country. He was invited in the country by Bility to identify the urgent needs of football in the country aimed at resurrecting the game of football which is in a declined state.    

Before his departure, the Brazilian told reporters that he was happy over the cordial reception he received from the Liberian people, particularly from authorities of the MYS and other football stakeholders.

Among other things, he added that his priorities will be to take the team to the West African Football Union Competition (WAFU) and the Nations Cups If he becomes senior coach of the Lone Star as well as to help improve the game of football in the country.
