Business executives laud Leelai Kpukuyou

Business executives in Liberia have commended one of Liberia’s female entrepreneurs, Madam M. Leelai Kpukuyou of the Liberia Business Association (LIBA) for winning an international award in London.

The African Leadership Magazine based in London is expected to present one of its prestigious awards on 14 June 2018, the African Female Business Leadership Excellence Award to Madam Kpukuyou, one of Liberia’s female productive entrepreneurs.

Ms. Kpukuyou is the Chief Executive Officer of the Mini Mall Incorporated in Monrovia, Liberia. The award program is expected to be held at the Hilton Park Lane, Mayfair, London.

In a separate statement, the Liberian business executives described Madam Kpukuyou’s achievement as success story for the Liberian business community. The CEO of Turmarsi Construction Incorporated, Mrs. Kimberly K. Toure said she is overwhelmed to hear that a Liberian entrepreneur, mainly woman is to be awarded such title globally.

She says it is a pride for Liberian businesses, noting that the award is not Leelai’s award but an award that will bring pride to all Liberian businesses operating here.

Mrs. Toure says she is happy to see Liberian entrepreneurs thinking big, saying, “I will love to see growth in Liberian businesses and we all love to see Liberian businesses growing from small to big businesses.”

Madam Toure noted that President George Manneh Weah is a “pro – poor” president who will love to see Liberian businesses improve to the highest peak. Also speaking, Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) president Alice Gorpu Yeebahn expressed gratitude to Madam Kpukuyou for her hard work.

She described the award as a plus for Liberian women and encouraged Leelai not to give up but to continue her hard work. The CEO of Mohammed Enterprise which deals in used clothes, electronics and cooking utensils, Mr. Mohammed Donzo said it was not a mistake for the London- based magazine to recognize the hard work of Madam Kpukuyoyu by nominating her to be awarded.

He said it is time for Liberian men and women to stand on their feet and improve businesses in Liberia. “We are not just proud but we are over plus happy with the news of our sister, she is hard working woman who does not discriminate …,” he says.

For her part, Leelai Kpukuyou credites the business community here for her success, and thanked the African Leadership Magazine for selecting her among many great other African business women.

“I am grateful for the award and I am happy that a Liberian woman’s name has entered in history. This [is] time for the business sector. The award is Liberian business award, we all need to celebrate it,” she said.

Due to her consistent work and tireless innovation rooted in trust, Leelai has developed credible links with diverse business actors in the Mano River Union, Economic Community of West African States and other parts of Africa.
