BWI denies several graduates
The Booker Washington Institute or BWI in Kakata, Margibi County has disqualified several prospective graduates of the institution just a day to its 65th Graduation exercises for alleged academic fraud, further slamming them with suspension.
Those students involved are also to face the wrath of the BWI Alumni Association. Five of the students, who were allegedly involved in academic fraud and other unacceptable behaviors, were denied from graduating from the Accelerated Vocational Training Program or AVTP over the weekend.
The institute should have graduated 320 candidates, but instead 315 after five of the prospective graduates were penalized for alleged malpractices. They were denied graduation prior to the main day for the commencement ceremony.
The BWI Administration said the action will serve as a caveat to would-be violators in the institution. Meanwhile, the occasion was graced by representatives from the Sweden Embassy in Monrovia, the Government of Liberia, development partners, students and well-wishers.
