BYC sacks Coach Sanna

Liberia Football Association or LFA League champion Barrack Young Controllers has sacked its head coach Copper Sannah after Nimba United defeat. Coach Sannah’s sacking came minutes after he lost his second game in row in the national league on Saturday, 20 May at the Blue Field.

BYC has won seven games this season, lost four in the national league with three of its league defeats at home following Sannah’s second season at the club. The club was seen to be undefeatable at home the entire last season. The defending Liberian Champions on Saturday went down to Nimba United 1-2 at home three days after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Fassell FC.

According to BYC President SekouKonneh, the club has parted ways with Sannah. Mr. Konneh wrote on social media to announce that “BYC has parted company with Coach Sannah”.

“We thanked him for the time, and wished him all the best in his future endeavors. Director Kojo will run the affairs until a new person is appointed”, he says. “We are sorry to lose Sannah after such a short period of time,” says BYC President Konneh, adding that “Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out as planned and we felt we had to make the change with half the LFA League season remaining”.

Sannah’s sudden departure comes few hours after BYC was thumped 2-1 at home by Nimba United, the club’s ninth defeat this season in both international and domestic competitions.

Sannah won the LFA championship with the “Go Blue Boys” in his first season last year, going undefeated at home and lost only two games throughout the season. BYC is now fourth on the league table with seven games to the end of the season. The football club’s management deems such position as unacceptable, given the reported massive investment and top quality of players it has. BYC’s next match is against league leaders Fassell FC at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on 11 June which is Kojo’ s first game as interim coach.
