Cape Mount: SCNL, FDA End Training Programme

The Society for the Conversation of Nature in Liberia and the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) has ended a two-day training programme on community sensitization awareness for the conversation of the Gola National Forest.

The proposed reserve Forest is located between Gola Konneh and Porkpa Districts, Grand Cape Mount County. The exercise lasted from March 24 to 26 (today).

It brought together 75 participants comprised of District and Township Commissioners, Paramount and Clan Chiefs, Women and Youth Representatives from the Districts.

Addressing the press, Michael Garbo, National Coordinator of the SCNL said that the propose reserve is a trans-boundary Peace Park signed between Sierra Leone and Liberia.

He said the awareness project was carried out through the efforts of national and international partnership for the improvement of the forest governance across the two communities.
