Cape Mount youths urged to register

A senatorial aspirant of Grand Cape Mount County Roland M. Perry, is calling on eligible voters to participate in the pending Voter’s role update exercise by the National Election Commission scheduled for Monday, January 13, 2014.

Mr. Perry said the impending voter’s role update is an opportunity for the youthful population of Liberia to make positive changes in post-war country.

He also said that by registering during the voter’s update period, young Liberians will have an opportunity to exercise their democratic franchise in electing individuals, who will impact their lives and develop the county.

According to a press release, aspirant Perry, who is also a Liberian journalist, employed at the Informer Newspaper, said young people of Liberia have been marginalized and classified as troublemakers for too long.

He called on youths of Liberia and Grand Cape Mount County in particular to take advantage of the pending exercise by going to get registered for the 2014 Special Senatorial Election and the general and presidential elections in 2017.

Perry is also reminded that youths constitute the highest proportion of the country’s population and any decision they take has far reaching effect on the forward march of Liberia.

The voter’s role update exercise which is to be carried out by the National Election Commission will not only create a platform for first time voters to exercise their constitutional rights, but also strengthen Liberia’s emerging democracy after years of political turmoil.
