Carter Center trains over 50 women

Carter Center Liberia trains more than 50 rural women along with chiefs in Nimba County. The beneficiaries include head of rural women, including chiefs and elders from all 17 administrative districts of the county.

National dispute resolution monitor Johnny Ndebe says the training was intended to build the capacity of traditional leaders and women on good governance and community justice practices. He says topics include legal information, mental health and conflict resolution, among others.

Some of the participants note that the training would impact their lives positively. Ellenor Donkeh, Mercy Vonleh, Sarah Meanwen and Mother Beatrice Lah explain that in the past, they were not educated on their basic rights as women, but now they have knowledge on traditional and western marriages, dress code for women, rape and how to add value to their personal lives.
