Catholic Hospital Faces Closure

The St. Joseph Catholic Hospital has disclosed that it urgently needs USS$400,000.00 before September to prevent its possible closure.

Doctor Lily Sanvee, Chief Medical Director sounded the SOS call Wednesday in Monrovia. She made the disclosure in Monrovia when she spoke to the media during a seminar which brought together over 30 medical practitioners.

“The issue of brain drain is very a serious matter here because in medicine there are specialties for which these practitioners came together for training or rehearsal,” Sanvee said.

The government annually provides subsidies to a number of private medical institutions, including ‘Catholic Hospital’ in the budget. In recent times, both private and public health institutions have been threatening to close due to the lack of funding for sustainability.
