CDC turns assassins over to police

Opposition Coalition for Democratic Change or CDC has turned over three alleged assassins that it claims were hired by Defense Minister Brownie Samukai and businessman George Kailondo under instruction of ruling Unity Party (UP’s) presidential candidate Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai to assassinate his opponent Sen. George Weah.

On Monday, 28 August, Police Spokesman Sam Collins confirmed to this paper that the police have received three suspects from the CDC in line with allegations levied and investigation is ongoing.

Following the CDC’s claims two weeks back that the assassins were hired to kill Mr. Weah while addressing supporters on 19 August during campaign rally, UP chair Wilmont Paye encouraged the CDC to take its case to the police.

During a live talk show early on Monday, 28 August at Prime FM, Minister Samukai termed as “complete lie,” the CDC’s claims of assassination plot against Mr. Weah, citing a pattern of lies coming from CDC authorities in recent years.–By Winston W. Parley, editing by Othello B. Garblah
