Cellcom Launches New 4G Mobile Broadband Technology

Cellcom GSM has revealed that it will today launch its newly built multi-million dollar network. The new 4G Mobile Broadband Network is the first of its kind in Liberia and is the most advanced mobile internet technology in the world. The new network will more than double Cellcom’s current internet speeds and will allow users to experience unprecedented uploads and download speeds.

The 4G launch is expected to take place during a lavish event at the Monrovia City Hall.   The event is expected to be graced by several hundred national and international dignitaries.

The Liberian Vice President, H.E. Joseph Boakai will serve as keynote speaker during the program. Representatives from Cellcom say a major part of the event will be a technology exhibit that will give guests a hands-on experience of how fast the new network is as well as a chance to test out several of the new gadgets Cellcom is releasing, including the Iphone, Ipad, and Samsung Galaxy 2S.

Cellcom’s proud Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Avishai Marziano, indicated that the new network is one of Cellcom’s greatest accomplishments.  “Today, I’m proud to tell you that we are changing Liberia with technology”.

Marziano said the event will significantly impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of Liberians. “We expect this new technology to affect education, the press, health, transportation, security and all aspects of Liberia.”

The new 4G network is the first of its kind in Liberia.     The technology is now being used by some of the largest cellular phone companies in the US and Europe and only a handful of countries in Africa have been able to deploy 4G.

“With the introduction of this technology, Cellcom has essentially set Liberia ahead of the rest of Africa and on par with Europe and the United States in terms of mobile internet speeds,” said Kimmie Weeks who serves as Chief Corporate Communications Strategist for Cellcom.

4G is the fourth generation of cell phone mobile communications standards. It is the more advance version of the third generation 3G networks which had, until recently, been seen as the fastest internet in the world.

A 4G network provides mobile ultra-broadband Internet access, for example to laptops with USB wireless modems, to smartphones, and to other mobile devices. Cellcom is also set to release a wide range of products and services that will complement the 4G network including internet devices such as NetStick, NetSpot, and Netbox all of which can be used in a variety of ways.

The company says its wide range of new products and services will dazzle any consumer.  “This is simply big!” Kimmie Weeks concluded.
