CEMESP Ends Community Radio workshop

The Center for Media Studies and Peace Building (CEMESP) Sunday ended an intensive training workshop on Peace Consolidation and Reporting for Community radio journalists in Liberia.

The workshop which took place in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount county, brought together 25 Community Radio journalists from Gbapolu, Bomi and Grand Cape Mount counties.

The workshop, with support from the National Endowment for Democracy was part of CEMESP’s capacity building initiative for the Liberian media.

Speaking at the closing and certification ceremony, CEMESP’s Executive Director Malcolm Joseph, praised the participants for their demonstrable commitment during the course of the workshop.

He said CEMESP will continue to organize similar workshops as a means of developing the human resource capacity of the Liberia media. Mr. Joseph also disclosed that his organization will shortly embark on series of Elections Reporting workshops for community radio journalists in seven of the fifteen counties of Liberia.

Prominent among topics covered at the Sinje workshop were Basic English Language Usage, Media and Conflict Prevention, News Gathering and Reporting, Reporting Community Development, Reporting Human Rights, Press Freedom/ Access to Information Continuity Announcing, Radio Production among others.
