Challenges underscored at Nat’l Archives

The Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA) is reportedly undergoing  major constraints due to the lack of professional specialists in archives in the  country.

The CNDRA Director General P. Bloh Sayeh attributed the constraints to the lack of archive science at the University of Liberia, which is a serious challenge not only to the National Documents and Records Agency, but the nation at large.

She noted that in order for the institution to function effectively, the CNDRA in 2015 will embark on an in house training for staff members, noting that the agency  already has made a resolution to fully digitized the remaining 10% of the system.

She said though the institution was faced with budgetary challenge, she and her staff were determined to work with the little already available to transform the institution.

The Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA) Director General was named by the Inquirer Newspaper recently as Reformist of the Year, while Sky Communications, Inc. honored her as the Director of the Year 2014.

Speaking Monday to reporters at her Sinkor office in Monrovia, Madam Bloh Sayeh admonished other public institutions to manage whatever funding available as a stepping stone to grow, describing the honor bestowed on her as a success story for the entire institution, with dedication to work-force of the CNDRA.

“I think what prompted this honor was the way we conducted ourselves during the Ebola crisis; with all of the budgetary challenges we had, our doors were always opened to the public, and we were robust in carrying out our functions. One of the things I think the media institution honor me for is because of the transformation we have carried out when we took over the CNDRA,” she noted.

She, however, welcomed President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s goal to decentralize the government, saying when the government is decentralized, citizens in rural Liberia will get to understand the operations of the CNDRA.
