Champions Gets Honors

The president of Liberia, Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf yesterday honored various champions from different sporting disciplines in the country.  The ceremony was held at the C. Ceil Dennis Auditorium at the foreign Ministry.

Liberia’s Heavy Weight Champion Master Junior Pewee-Russian was honored by President Sirleaf for ranking 3rd in the world and 2nd in the world Chinese Martial Art.

Russian appreciated the Liberian Leader for her support to the development of sports.  James Bobby Siaffa participated in the Paralympics, ranking 4th in the power lifting and 10th in the world.

A promising golfer, Akoi Flomo is the West Africa Amateur Golf Association champion. He was the youngest to be honored by the President of Liberia last evening.

Two football clubs were also honored by the Head of State for their contributions to the recovery process of the country through sports.

Barrack Young Controllers are the Knock- Out and Super Cup champions. They defeated Mighty 1-0 a few weeks ago at the Antoinette Tubman stadium (ATS) in Monrovia to lift the Super Cup.

Mighty Barolle, the local premiership Champions, received appreciation from Madam Sirleaf for their hard-earned award last season.

Meanwhile the president of LFA Musa Bility has promised Barrack Youth Controller the FA full for their away tournament to Sierra Leone.

Attending the program was Prince Bassan of Qatar; he presented ($5000) United States Dollars to the honorees as a sign of encouragement.
