CHICO truck kills man, 30

A vehicle belonging to the China Henan Company or CHICO, which is undertaking the Gbarnga-Ganta Road Project, has killed a 30 years old man.

An eyewitness told The NewDawn, that the victim came from church and was enroute to visit his farm in Weh Village, about 2kms away from Kpain Town, District# 8 in Nimba County when he was killed instantly by the CHICO truck with license plate, L 103-32.

The body of the late Siafa Thomas, a father of four, is currently at the Compa Funeral Home in Ganta, Nimba County.

This paper also gathered that since the ongoing road project by CHICO, this is the second fatal accident involving the company’s vehicle.

It can be recalled that during the first phase of work, an employee of the company was hit by a CHICO car and subsequently taken to the Ganta United Methodist Hospital in Nimba.

The death of Siafa Thomas has created panic among citizens of Kpain, as residents of told our correspondent that while they welcome the project, their cattle and other properties were being allegedly destroyed by the company.

When contacted, CHICO director of press, Kpehe Bolay, referred this paper to the Liberia National Police for information.
