Children honor pastor for 50 years of preaching

The Free Pentecostal Global Mission Church at Sugar Hill in Kakata City, Margibi County and the Children of Rev. James T. Plackie on Sunday, 26 February honored Rev. Plackie for his steadfastness in upholding God’s words and evangelizing Christ to the world for the past 50 years.


A statement issued by Rev. Plackie’s son, Mr. Abel Plackie who works with Executive Mansion as Deputy Presidential Press Secretary to the President says the honor was received amid hundreds of family members, Christians, government officials, friends and Pastors.

Delivering the message during the celebration, Pastor Solomon S. Plackie who is one of the five sons of the honoree based in Port Harcourt, River State in Nigeria underscored the importance of serving God with commitment, honesty and love for family and  fellow Christian’s. In brief remarks, Rev. Joseph T.S. Menjor, General Overseer of the Free Pentecostal Global Missions, Liberia Incorporated commended the Church and the Children of Rev. Plackie for celebrating and honoring one of the pillars of the Free Pentecostal Movement in Liberia.

The General Overseer who is also one of the products of Rev. Plackie noted that celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Rev. Plackie was not a mistake but a prudent and remarkable thing for the world and others to see the reward in serving God with total humility.

For his part, the honoree, Rev. James Tamba Plackie recounted his great encounter with God in a vision when he accepted the call of God to do work for him.
He accepted Jesus Christ, Son of the living God and began to work for God with all his heart, mind and soul. Rev. Plackie received water baptism on 1st January 1967 in the Free Pentecostal Church in Foya City, Lofa County and was ordained August 29, 1979. In 1966, he started as an evangelist in Foya, Lofa County after embracing Christianity at an early age and later moved to Kakata in 1972, replacing the first pastor of the Church, Borbor Bengue who died last year due to poor health.

He thanked the Church and his children for the honor bestowed on him, but particularly commended his wife for standing by him all these years adding. “I thank my dear wife who stood by me and supported all that I did”, he said. – Press release
